Aston Villa boss Dean Smith doesn't expect to lose any of his players in January.

Villa 's fringe players have stepped up in recent weeks after injury to Ross Barkley and Trezeguet while Ezri Konsa has missed the last couple of games through illness.

"I don't envisage any players moving on," Smith said. "You have a 25 man squad for a reason. Henri isn't in that squad, he has the opportunity to work to get into the squad and he's doing that at the moment.

"We need a squad for the rest of the season. we have only played 12 games, there are a lot of games to go."

In terms of incomings, Smith doesn't expect much business to happen on that front either when the window does re-open on Friday week.

"We are looking at it in general in terms of whether there is anything we need to do," he added. "We are certainly not desperate in terms of players we need to bring in or go out. We have our finger on the pulse but I don't envisage us doing an awful lot, to be honest."
