Barcelona chief Guillermo Amor remains hopeful of Lionel Mesi signing a new deal.
Messi is out of contract at the end of this season so can leave for free.
"Leo has given a lot to Barcelona; Barcelona have given a lot to Leo," Amor told Radio MARCA.
"Hopefully he will retire here.
"It is in his hands because his contract is coming towards an end, but we are still thinking that he is a Barcelona player."
