M-cyclist killed in Beluran mishap

BELURAN: A motorcyclist was killed when he was caught between a trailer truck and a four-wheel drive (4WD) in a crash here, Wednesday.

Beluran district police chief, Supt Kasim Muda said in the 9.30 pm incident at Kilometre 9 of Jalan Telupid-Beluran, the victim was closely trailing the truck when he was hit from the rear by the 4WD.

“All three vehicles were travelling from Telupid towards Beluran,” he said in a statement here Thursday.

“Preliminary investigations found that the incident took place at night at a road bend with no street lights.

Kasim said the victim was only identified as Rahim, aged 45, and his remains had been sent to Telupid Hospital.

The truck driver, 44, and 4WD driver, 56, have been detained for further investigation under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
