Former Fulham defender Brede Hangeland has joined Norway's backroom staff.
Former Wolves and Copenhagen coach Stale Solbakken has just taken charge of the Norwegian national team and has created a new role for Hangeland - player manager.
Solbakken told VG: "Brede is the prototype of a national team captain, who was present when we almost succeeded, who has great respect in the group and in Football Norway, and who has recent experience from that locker room.
"It is very important to have someone who knows how it has been recently, unlike the rest of us."
