Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government via the State Industrial Development Ministry has helped provide a virtual platform, GoBiz e-commerce, to be a catalyst for local entrepreneurs who venture into business.

State Industrial Development Minister Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam said his Ministry had taken steps to develop the GoBiz e-commerce platform to encourage the marketing of locally-made products and help Sabah entrepreneurs to promote their products in a borderless market up to the global level.

“Through this platform, local entrepreneurs will be able to increase their sales and reduce the burden and their financing cost, especially during this time when the country is still facing the spread of Covid-19.

“I believe and I am confident that many new and existing entrepreneurs will join this programme and benefit from this platform,” he said in a media statement in conjunction with the launch of the GoBiz e-commerce platform, here, Monday.

GoBiz is one of the services available in the online marketplace GoNet, and is available on Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store.

Joachim said his Ministry had received more than 500 applications to participate in GoBiz and so far, more than 1,000 products had been identified.

“We expect to face many challenges, among them are the risk of substandard quality of products sold, technical problems, communication challenges between sellers and buyers, and so on.

“However, whatever problems and challenges we will face, the Government and GoNet developer are ready to find a solution as soon as possible to ensure the quality of this application is maintained,” he said.
