Juan Carlos Carcedo has urged Arsenal to stick with Mikel Arteta, despite their struggles in the Premier League.
Carcedo was Villarreal coach Unai Emery's assistant at Arsenal. They have since parted ways, with the former assistant now in charge of third tier outfit UD Ibiza.
"It is not easy," he told the Athletic. “After so many years with (Arsene) Wenger, it was not an easy moment. It is true that there were changes in many different areas of the club.
“But the club hierarchy has to try to keep things calm and give confidence to the people working there, now it is Mikel and Edu.
“I know it is not easy sometimes, with results, but constant changes are not good and you need to have patience for the results to arrive, and so that the people who work there now can achieve the things they are fighting for."
Carcedo revealed that a number of Arsenal's current squad reach out to him after his appointment, showing the close bonds he and Emery built in north London.
“I still have a very good relationship with many of the players that Unai and I coached," he added.
“That says a lot about the relationship, personal and professional. If the players keep in contact with you, it is because you have been able to offer them something, improve them as players, and personally you have been close to them. Nacho Monreal, Hector Bellerin, Dani Ceballos and many other players congratulated me on getting the new job, and we remain in contact."
