Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was pleased with how Dean Henderson responded from his early mistake against Sheffield United.
The England international replaced David De Gea in goals but got off to a shocking start when his failed clearance allowed David McGoldrick to score a 5th minute opener.
However, Henderson pulled off a number of fine saves as United won 3-2.
Asked about Henderson's mistake, Solskjaer said: "When we conceded the first goal, you sit back and think 'this is a test for you son'.
"Show you are learning and maturing, he handled himself really well and made an important save that saved two points for us."
