Gylfi Sigurdsson was proud after proving Everton's matchwinner for victory over Chelsea at Goodison Park.
The result denies Chelsea going top of the table.
Sigurdsson tucked away from the spot following Edouard Mendy's foul on Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
He later said: "It was a tough one, not going to lie but we had to defend until the last second. A very important three points for us.
"Against a team like Chesea, they are good going forward and move the ball really well. We have done some work on our defensive shape during the week and it worked.
"Strikers all want to take the penalties, not ideal but it is one of those things. It is a good thing a lot people want to step up.
"It is nice to see it go into the back of the net and even better when it is the winning goal.
"We have got a few players playing out of position. Clean sheet and I thought we were quite comfortable. They had a lot of possession but the shape worked perfectly. We rode our luck with a couple of shots hitting the post.
"We need to get back to winning ways and how we were playing in the first four or five games. Lots of spirit, confidence and goals.
"You almost forgot what it was like playing in front of fans. You get the goosebumps and it was fantastic."
