Muis opens haemodialysis centre

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Islamic Religious Council (Muis) has opened a haemodialysis centre on the first floor of Wisma Muis in Sembulan, here, as part of its welfare programmes to assist patients in need of the treatment service.   

The centre, jointly established with the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) and named Pusat Dialisis (Muis-NKF), is equipped with 12 haemodialysis machines with the capacity of treating up to 36 patients per day (three sessions), except for Sundays.  

It is open to all patients registered under the Zakat and Fitrah Division, Muis, which will bear their treatment cost, as well as those registered under the Health Ministry and Perkeso, which will cover part of their treatment cost.

Special Tasks Minister Datuk Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif, who announced this, said another such centre would be opened at a building owned by Muis in Tebobon, Sepanggar early next year.
