Control post planned for Pulau Tiga

KUALA PENYU: A control post will be built at the Pulau Tiga (pic), here as an effort to monitor the safety of not only tourists but also the marine treasures on the island.

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Jafry Ariffin said among the threats and problems often encountered on the island are encroachment by locals and foreign fishermen as well as the use of destructive fishing methods such as the use of fish bombs.

“Besides that there are also unlicensed tour guides or tour boat owners who do not have a seafarer card.
