Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce says criticism coming their way is hurting his players.
Newcastle go into Wednesday's clash with Liverpool seven points clear of the relegation zone, although unrest among supporters gathers pace.
"The criticism hurts them but I hope I can create a mentality to make sure we roll our sleeves up and shut a few people up," he said.
"The only way to do that is through results and we will keep working as hard as we can. We'd all like to be shooting for the top ten, but firstly, obviously, we have to remain a Premier League outfit.
"The remit hasn't changed. The remit has been like that since I walked through the door but my attitude towards it is, we have to try and aim towards the top ten."
