Arsenal defender William Saliba retains hope of a return to Saint Etienne.
The Gunners are keen to find a loan move for the youngster, though would prefer he move within in England - which could include dropping down into the Championship.
However, France Football says there remains confidence between ASSE and Saliba of a reunion.
While ASSE lack the finances to cover the deal on current terms, Saliba is prepared to sacrifice a dramatic percentage of his wages to seal the move.
But Arsenal management will still need some persuading, with the preference remaining an English loan switch.
