Kota Kinabalu: The State Government should establish a special Covid-19 vaccination taskforce, besides putting in place an efficient vaccination plan, soon as possible.

Sabah Independent Candidates Alliance (Sica) member Melanie Chia said this is necessary to ensure a smooth and successful distribution of the vaccine and its safe administration to the masses in Sabah, especially in view of the complexity of its distribution process which requires sub-zero cold storage and transportation.

“First, the special taskforce should ensure sufficient cold storage facilities and transportation to distribute the vaccines, and enough trained medical personnel to properly and safely administer the vaccines to the populace in Sabah, both Malaysians and non-Malaysians, before the vaccines arrive in the State.

“It is especially crucial to have an adequate number of trained medical personnel to safely administer the vaccine to those individuals who are fit to undergo Covid-19 vaccination.
