Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is delighted with the impact of Ruben Dias.

The Manchester Evening News says City's record with the Portugal international has been transformative; they have conceded fewer goals (five) in the eight Premier League games he has started than in the two he did not (six goals), while John Stones has grown in confidence again playing alongside him.

As well as his defensive abilities, the leadership skills that Dias brings have already been picked up on by his teammates based on what they have seen both in matches and in training as the centre-back has quickly settled in the squad and emerged as a strong voice.

Guardiola has been in need of more leaders since club captain Vincent Kompany opted to leave in 2019, while his successor as skipper David Silva joined Real Sociedad a year later; current captain Fernandinho has started just five matches so far in this campaign and is out of contract at the end of it.
