IDS to assist in rural devt efforts

Kota Kinabalu: State Rural Development Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim expressed interest in IDS’ research expertise in assisting the Ministry on poverty issues, impact of Mini Estet Sejahtera (MESEJ) and district development plans. 

According to Jahid, the Ministry aims to create a resilient inclusive community by focusing on each community and district’s strength.

“Future collaboration between IDS and the Ministry for rural development could benefit the state in developing a wholistic state that embraces each community’s unique strengths and the district’s natural resources,” he said during a courtesy call by an Institute for Development Studies delegation.

IDS CEO Anthony Kiob welcomed Jahid’s interest in the institute and stressed that IDS’ research related to poverty in Sabah could be beneficial for both parties in developing rural communities through a thorough district planning.
