Sevilla chief Monchi has received a boost in his pursuit of Atalanta winger Papu Gomez.
The 32-year-old wantaway Argentine is not short of suitors, with lucrative offers from MLS on the table as well as interest from other top Italian clubs. But Gomez is keen on a move to Sevilla.
Atalanta don't want to sell to a Serie A rival, however, and the player wants to keep playing at a high level, giving Sevilla a double advantage.
Julen Lopetegui is keen to add a player who can play between the opposition lines and make decisive passes in the final third.
Monchi has begun negotiations with Atalanta and, with the player having already consented, Lopetegui could get his man.
