Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel left Hakim Ziyech out of his squad for today's clash with Burnley.
Chelsea take on Burnley at Stamford Bridge at lunch time and Ziyech was not included in the starting XI or on the bench.
He started in midweek in the 0-0 draw with Wolves as Tuchel's new era in west London got off to a dour start, as their top-four hopes continue to fade.
The German has confirmed his reasoning behind the decision, he said: “Hakim has been in a bit of overload since five weeks so he has a bit of a risk of getting injured if he plays more than say 30 minutes.
"For that we decided to take a break now to go out of the risk zone. We decided this yesterday."
