Released Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa has been turned down by Olympique Marseille.
La Provence says Costa offered himself to Marseille this week, but club directors rejected the proposal.
OM sports director Pablo Longoria rates Costa as a player, but was reluctant to take a gamble on the striker's temperament.
Costa is currently in Brazil, in his native Lagarto, where he trains with the city's local team so as not to lose his fitness.
Wolves are also being mentioned as a possible destination for the free agent.
