Former France comms chief Philippe Tournon admits Federation president Noel Le Graet maintains plans of handing the national team reins to Zinedine Zidane.
Didier Deschamps will lead France at the Euros this summer, though he could step down after the tournament.
Tournon confirmed: "If you had asked me the question in 2006, when he left the player scene, I would have said: 'I do not see too much, he will have to let go, he will have to take the sofa'.
"Since then, with what he has done at Real with two league titles and three European Cups, the jackpot is huge.
"President Le Graët has him in the back of his mind."
