Customs in Bingkor advised to carry out duty fairly, equitably

KENINGAU: Customary practitioners in Bingkor have been advised to carry out their duty and responsibilities fairly and equitably without any discrimination.

Bingkor Assemblyman Robert Tawik said this is to prevent indigenous people from being looked down upon by outsiders.

“Although we are currently in a modern and sophisticated age, the customs and taboos of our ancestors need to be defended, continued and upheld so that the customs of the indigenous people do not extinct with time.

“This is because the indigenous people and other races in this state are a very unique race and have their own identity,” he said when officiating at the presentation of letters of appointment for Native Chiefs (KAN), Native Chief Representatives (WKAN), Village Heads (KK) and the Head of the Chinese Community (KMC) here on Saturday.
