Saved – trio afloat two days at sea

Kota Kinabalu: Three local fishermen reported missing since Jan. 1 were rescued by the navy’s KD Todak in Permatang Ubi waters some 160 nautical miles from here on Sunday.

KD Todak Commanding Officer, Lt Commander Mohd Rozaimi Mahmod, said all three were found dehydrated and exhausted after floating at the sea in their fishing boat without food for two days.

The trio were part of a 12-man crew including its skipper who went out fishing in the area.

The navy was alerted on the missing three at about 10am on Sunday, when the skipper lodged a report that had gone missing since about 5pm on Jan. 1.
