Timothy Fosu-Mensah's first option remains staying with Manchester United.

The Manchester Evening News says the Dutch defender feels undervalued by the initial terms United offered him.

Fosu-Mensah, 22, has featured three times for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side this season having made six appearances for the club in the previous campaign.

With his contract due to expire at the end of the season the versatile defender is now free to negotiate with foreign clubs over a pre-contract agreement in the January transfer window.

AS Monaco, Marseille, Hertha Berlin and Bayer Leverkusen are all showing interest in Fosu-Mensah - although his ultimate desire would be to extend his stay at Old Trafford.

United triggered the one-year extension in Fosu-Mensah's contract last season as they wanted to retain his value due to the player's positive reputation abroad.
