Marcelino is happy to be taking the job at Athletic Bilbao.
While confirmed on Monday after the sacking of Gaizka Garitano, Marcelino didn't speak to the media until yesterday. He will be in the San Mames dugout tonight against Barcelona.
Marcelino said, "When you make the decision to sign for this entity you know where they come from, the philosophy of the club and where this team draws from.
"Athletic is an exciting challenge for us."
He also stressed that Gaizka Garitano “deserves all the respect and has done a very good job here. He took the team in a difficult situation and almost reached European competition.
"Frankly a good job. I have a clear conscience that I have been very respectful to him. When we received the call we were clear that training Athletic is something that was not going to happen to us again, that's why we accepted."
