L'Equipe says United are keen on the young midfielder and have registered their interest with Soumare's camp and Lille management.
Soumare has welcomed their interest, but is in no rush to jump ship.
Indeed, the youngster has informed LOSC he wishes to play out the season in France before assessing his options over the summer.
It's a decision that has been welcomed by Lille coach Christophe Galtier, who has made Soumare a first-choice for his midfield over the past 18 months.
