‘Op Balasah’: 135 soldiers return to Miri base

Kota Kinabalu: A total of 135 soldiers, including 10 officers of the 20th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD), ceased the “Op Balasah” series 4/2021 and moved back to their base in Miri, Sarawak, on Tuesday.

The new Fifth Infantry Division Commander Major General Datuk Mohd Halim Khalid gave a token of appreciation to the 20th Battalion RAMD Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Rozaid Badrulzaman, at Terminal 2 Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA).

The land operations in Sabah were carried out through the “Op Balasah” programme involving the control of the State’s border up to North Kalimantan and this particular troop successfully evicted Indonesian illegal immigrants (Pati) involving five cases in Tawau.

Mohd Halim said those operations were strengthened through the implementation of “Op Benteng” under the National Task Force (NTF) led by the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) to strengthen the enforcement of security aspects with the aim of preventing illegal immigrants from crossing national borders.
