GOMBAK, Jan 25 — Any parties with the interest to enter the 74 Orang Asli villages in Selangor must first acquire approval from the Orang Asli Development Department (Jakoa).

Selangor and Federal Territory Jakoa director Zainul Adnan Zainal Abidin said the permission is required in order to ensure the safety of the minority group as well as to prevent and break the Covid-19 chain of infection.

“If the entry of the individuals does not pose any harm to the Orang Asli villagers, access would be given but with a limited number.

“The same goes with NGOs that come to distribute aid. Those who wish to enter must acquire the approval from Jakoa or from the district security council,” he said when met after accompanying Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari distributing aid to 36 families at Kampung Orang Asli Ulu Batu in Ulu Yam, yesterday.

Each of the families was handed over food essentials including rice, chicken, vegetables, and fish to help them during the movement control order period (MCO).
