BEAUFORT: Local fruit sellers here breathed a sigh of relief as the Beaufort District Council (MDB) has allowed them to trade beside the general market again. It had been a prolonged issue since last year, where more than 20 sellers were directed to relocate to make way for renovation works at the general market. The move had caused their sales to decline, as they were relocated to a non-strategic area near Padang Pekan which decreased their visibility to customers.
Some of the sellers had even resorted to closing their business, as many of the fruits they were selling had gone bad. “We are grateful to the District Council for allowing us to trade at our original location,” a fellow fruit seller told Daily Express.
