Build new ferry terminal pending Labuan bridge

LABUAN: The Government is urged to increase the frequency of the Menumbuk ferry service to the island or set up a new terminal in Membakut to improve ferry services pending realisation of the Labuan bridge project.

Labuan Chinese Chamber of Commerce President Datuk Wong Kii Yii (pic) said both previous  Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan governments have been talking about the project for decades but no action.

“The implementation of the project is far away and the government should give a greater role to the ferry service,” he said.

Wong pointed out that since Labuan is now under the jurisdiction of the Perikatan Nasional Federal Government and Sabah is helmed by a PN ally, it should not be difficult to improve the ferry service for the meantime.
