SANDAKAN: Looking back, 2019 was a good and busy year for the local tourism industry, in which several milestones were achieved, including the arrival of Royal Brunei Airlines and Malindo, as well as the overwhelming response to the second Sandakan Food Festival.

Sandakan Tourism Association (Stan) President, Teo Chee Kim, said 2020 too started very promising as we built on the momentum from the previous year.

“Alas, things all came crushing down from March this year as the industry suffered tremendous losses as a result of the devastating impact of the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
