Kota Kinabalu: Philanthropist preacher Ustaz Ebit Liew has donated 12 water tanks to Kg Tanjung Labian in Lahad Datu, a village dependent on rain for their needs. Ebit in a Facebook today post said he was saddened by the plight faced by the village, where 350 families reside. "I can't imagine how they've been having to make do with drums to catch rainwater. A lot of homes are without water tanks," he said.
"I asked them about this a few times because I couldn't believe this. Several homes were destroyed during the 2013 Tanduo [militant] attack. "I feel guilty. We have water, but they don't. May their burden be eased."
Ebit is currently on a 10-day humanitarian mission in Sabah to help people whose lives are affected by the pandemic with the endeavour kicking off with donations to a Lahad Datu church.
