Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood has questioned Arsenal's deal for Martin Odegaard.
The Real Madrid attacker has joined the Gunners on-loan to the end of the season.
Sherwood told Optus: "I'm not sure how good he is, to be honest. He comes to play the role of 10er. We have seen it with Dani Ceballos, who is on loan from Real Madrid, I think he has struggled. I think this is a new signing gamble for Arsenal.
"It will be exciting to see if he is better than Smith and Elneny, I will be very surprised.
"Hopefully this transfer does not block the way for some of their young good players, who are on their way forward."
