Getafe are closing on a deal for Barcelona midfielder Carles Alena.
Marca says the two clubs have been close to an agreement for several days, and one of the higher profile fringe players at the Camp Nou will now be given a chance to play regular football and develop.
Not only are Alena and Marc Cucurella former teammates on the pitch, but they are also incredibly close friends, and the latter is understood to have been a key factor in persuading the midfielder to join the ranks at Getafe.
Both players worked together at La Masia and in the youth-category teams at international level, and with Cucurella's career having gone from strength-to-strength since arriving in Madrid, he will undoubtedly have told Alena of then benefits of such a move.
