Barcelona captain Lionel Messi was sent off for the first time for the club in their Supercopa de Espana final defeat to Athletic Club.
Messi whacked Asier Villalibre off the ball and was sent off via VAR.
Ref Jesus Gil Manzano didn't see it live, but the VAR room advised him to take a look and he produced a straight red card for the Argentine. The most likely ban would be a two-game suspension. However, given the intent shown by Messi he could be facing a longer ban.
