Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was impressed by Aston Villa superkid Louie Barry.

The 17-year-old struck just before half-time to peg back the Premier League champions in the FA Cup third round tie at Villa Park, after Sadio Mane had threatened to open the floodgates with an early header.

A strong Liverpool side eventually took the game away from the youngsters in the second half, with Gini Wijnaldum, Mane and Mohamed Salah all scoring within five minutes of each other to make it 4-1.

“The boys did really well. Little Jamie Vardy was a proper threat," the Reds boss told talkSPORT.

In a separate interview on BT Sport, he added: "The kids did really well, that's good.

"We had football problems. We needed a little bit longer but then it was completely clear.

"Problems in passing and moving. Too many on the wrong side of the ball - not enough recoveries of passes. We had chances and shot the ball directly at the goalie - we changed it in the second half.

"It was rusty but better in the second half. Against Southampton [1-0 defeat] from the first second they were more on the pitch but that was not the case today."
