Peuple-Vert says Saliba received equal offers from both OGN and ASSE.
And despite his ties to ASSE, Saliba chose Nice as he agreed to sign on-loan to the end of this season.
The 19 year-old agreed to join Nice for 'sporting reasons' and for 'something new'.
Saliba left ASSE for Arsenal last summer, though never tasted first team football with the Gunners this season.
