Southampton matchwinner Danny Ings insists his goal in victory over Liverpool was legit.
Ings ran on to a James Ward-Prose free-kick and applied a sublime left-foot lob over Brazilian goalkeeper Allison to net what proved to be the winner.
Speaking on Sky Sports post-match, the frontman said: “Some say it was a cross – I'd say it was a shot!
“It's one of them where I've almost got my back to goal. All I can really do is kind of loop it and I looked over my shoulder and it went in. It was great relief.
“A great ball from Prowsey. Theo jumped with Trent (Alexander-Arnold) which put him off – and I can't remember who but you can see somebody on the free-kick pushing them back to make sure I was onside.
“Everybody played a part in that goal.
“We all know how good Prowsey is from set-pieces and we work on stuff most weeks to see where we can get in.
“All the parts came together and luckily I got the goal."
