Porto veteran Pepe has named Manchester City defender Ruben Dias as the best in the world.
Dias left Benfica last summer for City and has quickly settled in England.
Pepe told Tribuna Expresso: "On the field we were rivals, but outside we did not want to hurt ourselves.
"He became a top centre-back, you know what I think of him. He is a super intelligent player. Currently, there is no better than him, I told him.
"He's showing it."
