Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel does not deny nationality played a small part in him getting the job.
Tuchel has taken over from Frank Lampard and will be expected to bring success in the next year and a half.
The German will be asked to bring out the best of countrymen Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, both signed for big money in the summer.
"Maybe it was not the biggest disadvantage in this moment," said Tuchel about being German during a press conference.
"I already know six or seven players.
"That made it a bit easier for me. But hopefully there were some other reasons other than my nationality!"
When asked about his transfer plans, Tuchel said: "We have had one game and two training sessions. I am very happy with what I see so far, with both training sessions and the game yesterday, the performance, the attitude and the talent and potential.
"If a possibility comes alone that we all agree on making us stronger right away, OK we will not hesitate.
"But it is not like we have the absolute need to do something, absolutely not."
