PETALING JAYA: Two PKR MPs have quit the party and declared their support for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

They are Sarawak’s Julau MP Larry Sng and Johor’s Tebrau MP Steven Choong, FMT reported.

“After one year of evaluating the government’s performance, two PKR MPs today decided to support Muhyiddin as prime minister and also Perikatan Nasional.

“Congratulations Julau and Tebrau,” Hizwan Ahmad, political secretary for the housing and local government minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said in a Facebook post today.

Hizwan added that the decision by the MPs was a move towards a stable government and a safe country.

According to a source, it was believed that Sng had been approached by PPBM several times in the past but had put the plan on hold due to his personal relationship with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

The move by the two MPs to join the governing coalition sees PKR left with only 36 MPs. Previously, PKR had won 48 seats in the May 2018 general election.
