Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admits he was thinking about a Europa League spot when his team was enduring early season struggles.
The Citizens had a very short pre-season, like Wolves and Manchester United, and did not start the campaign well.
But they have now won 13 Premier League games in a row, defeating Burnley 2-0.
Now Guardiola's side are top of the table with a game in hand, and take on champions Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
"We have to do our job. It's a big mistake to think about other sides," Guardiola told BBC Sport after Wednesday's win.
"When we were 12th we were thinking "forget about the Premier League, [see] if we can achieve being in Europa League next season."
"It's not about runs of games, statistics. It's always the next game, next game. For now we enjoy this game, and tomorrow we will start to think about the next game."
