Leeds United director of football Victor Orta admits they need to alter their transfer market approach due to Brexit.
Orta said Leeds would “modify" the way they do business, with young foreign players more difficult to buy following Brexit.
“Those who are most punished by the new rules are the clubs that are looking for young pearls that are still semi-unknown. Now the market is going to go directly to confirmed, established players," Orta told AS.
“It will be difficult to discover players in the French or Spanish second division. For example, [Riyad] Mahrez or Adama [Traore], now they would not come. In the market now, starting players will prevail in their clubs, who play European competitions and with their country.
“The first thing we have to do now as clubs is to know if the players we are following meet the requirements that are asked. There is already an application that does the calculation for you. Scouting rewards little."
