Massimiliano Allegri is in talks with AS Roma about succeeding Paulo Fonseca.

Gazzetta dello Sport says the former Juventus coach has told Roma he's willing to take the job at the end of this season.

Fonseca will be shown the door at Roma if they fail to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Talks with Allegri are at such an advanced stage that he has insisted Edin Dzeko not be allowed to leave, despite his falling out with Fonseca.

Indeed, he informed Roma that him accepting post was dependent on Dzeko staying - which he has after being reinstated to Fonseca's first team squad last week.
