Lazio have slammed local press claims over the reaction of their players to defeat to Champions League opponents Bayern Munich.
Il Messaggero claimed the Biancocelesti players acknowledged the gap up to Die Roten and reported voices from the dressing room saying 'they are eating us up on the pitch' at half-time.
But in an official response, Lazio declared: “Lazio played the reigning World Champions, and it didn't go as we hoped.
“And everyone saw what happened on the pitch.
“The phrases reported today in a newspaper do not, however, represent the thought and state of mind of the team but, vice versa, a form of exploitation implemented by the usual suspects trying to break up a group, a club and supporters that have always been compact and united to achieve set targets."
