Petrol with no permit: Man fined RM100,000

TAWAU: A 49-year-old man was fined RM100,000 or a year’s jail for having 3,400 litres of petrol without a permit.

Aldam Bandog, 49, pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Awang Kerisnada Awang Mahmud, to the charge against him.

Aldam was found illegally having the petrol at 11pm on Nov 6, 2019 at the Qiah Enterprise premises in Kg Kuala Bibang, Semporna.

The offence, under Section 21(1) of the Supply Control Act 1961, carries a fine of up to RM1 million or a jail term of up to three years, or both, on conviction.

Aldam who was detained by the Marine police in Semporna, had paid the fine.

The court ordered for the 3,400 litres of petrol to be forfeited.

Prosecuting Officer Jong Jee Leong from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Affairs (KPNHEP) appeared for the prosecution.
