Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits his record of playing young players has helped with their transfer work.

Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri, currently on-loan with Alaves, were signed by United this season knowing Solskjaer will eventually give them a first team chance.

He told VG: "We are a club that likes to give players opportunities to develop and find talent. Our fans, our story has always been about skilled, offensive players who play without fear.

"These are players we have identified to carry on the tradition.

"My role is to talk to them and prepare a path for those who show 'this is what we envision with you'. We have shown over the years with the last managers, Sir Alex was the best, that we have produced some of the world's best players.

"Wayne Rooney came here at a young age, Cristiano Ronaldo was young. We've developed Ryan Giggs, David Beckham and that gang ourselves. We have Marcus Rashford, now Mason Greenwood is coming up. All these experiences help me as a manager when I have to convince players that their future is here.

"I like to give them the chance. When you follow my career as a manager, it is one of the greatest pleasures I can have, to have a player as a young boy and see him succeed at the top level, whether Norwegian players I have worked with, and here of course."
