Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has jumped to the defence of Thiago Alcantara.
Several ex-Reds have questioned whether Thiago's style of play hinders manager Jurgen Klopp's system.
But Redknapp told The Times: "That's just nonsense. We're talking about one of the world's most technically gifted players.
"I could watch him play football all day long.
"It's disrespectful. Right now they are looking for things that are wrong with Liverpool, and people are picking on him because he is new to the team. It is unfair, because he is one of the world's best midfielders."
