Jose Mourinho believe Tottenham Hotspur deserved more from their clash with Brighton on Sunday.

The Seagulls claimed a valuable 1-0 win over Spurs to end their 14-game winless streak at the AMEX.

Leandro Trossard fired past Hugo Lloris in the first-half to seperate the two sides.

Despite Mourinho's claim, Spurs were toothless throughout the 90 minutes and clearly struggled without star striker Harry Kane.

The north London outfit have now won just 3 of their last 11 Premier League games in which Kane has not featured.

They are now in fifth on the Premier League table, 11 points behind leaders Manchester City.

"Not good in the first half, better in the second," Mourinho said of the game. "We didn't start well, we started with some mistakes that lead to a ball that hit the post and then the goal.

"The team showed in the first half that it was too sad to play football. When you are too sad, you have no energy, enthusiasm or confidence, and that was what the team showed in the first half.

"The second half, I am much happier, they showed not a phenomenal performance, we didn't even turn the result but a different performance – more intensity and more dynamic.

"We were dominant in the second half and deserved a better result."
