Kota Kinabalu: A 28-year-old man was discharged and acquitted from a charge of having 185.13gm of cannabis without his defence being called.

The offence, under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act and punishable under Section 39(2)(f) of the same Act, provides for a jail term of between five years and life imprisonment, and whipping of at least 10 strokes of the cane, on conviction.

Five prosecution witnesses were called to testify during the hearing.

Counsel Azhier Farhan defended Nor Affendy.
