Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is upset with Gareth Bale over a social media post.

For their 5-4 FA Cup defeat at Everton, there was no place in the squad for Bale, who has been hugely disappointing so far in his loan spell from Real Madrid.

Explaining Bale's absence at full-time, Mourinho said: "Well I think it's better for me to say. So we played against West Bromwich on the Sunday and he didn't play.

"On Monday I was a little bit surprised by him wanting to have a scan because he was not comfortable with some muscular area.

"So he didn't train on Monday and then on Tuesday he trained with the team but I was informed that his desire would be to work with the sports science for a couple of days to strengthen that area where he's not feeling comfortable.

"That's the reason why he's not here."

The comments hinted at some tensions between the two - and Bale did not help matters with an Instagram post he shared as the team were travelling to Liverpool without him.

In it, Bale included a picture of himself in training along with the caption "Good session today".

And it is understood that Mourinho was livid with the post, which made him out to be the bad guy, reports the Mirror.
