Kota Kinabalu: The growing presence of vagrants has raised concern among residents and visitors to Kota Kinabalu. Vagrants can be seen sitting, some even lying, along the stretch near the Bataras Supermarket in the city centre. Some vagrant children can be seen running towards cars, knocking on the windows while begging for money. Some have also been spotted lying on tables near the Sembulan market where noodles are sold at night.
Some wander around the Sembulan market oblivious to their safety and of those around them. Their antics have caused fear, anger and concern among the residents especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“They can be seen mainly between 7am and 2pm,” said a resident.
